Meet The Attorneys of Estate Planning Law Group of Blazek & Gregg

James Blazek, Founder and President of the Estate Planning Law Group of Blazek & Gregg

Jim is the founder and President of the Estate Planning Law Group of Blazek & Gregg, P.C., L.L.O., a unique law firm that limits its practice to wills, trusts, and estate administration, serving clients throughout Nebraska and Iowa.

Jim is an Omaha native. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1978, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, concentrating in Finance. Jim received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Creighton University School of Law in 1981.

In 1982 he was admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. He has been assisting clients with their Estate and Business Planning needs for over forty years. Jim is a member of Wealth Counsel, the Omaha Estate Planning Council, the Esperti Peterson Institute and the Nebraska Bar Association.
He has received the designation of Advanced Wealth Strategies Planner from the Esperti Peterson Institute in 2002.

Jim lectures locally and nationally on Estate Planning topics. For many years he has helped train Accountants, Insurance Professionals and other Attorneys in Estate Planning and Business Planning strategies. He has a special interest in helping farm families preserve their farms. He is co-author of Estate Planning for Farmers and Ranchers (2014) and (2013), Estate and Tax Planning for Qualified Retirement Plans and IRA’s in Nebraska (2002), Limited Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies (1999), How to Draft Wills and Trusts in Nebraska (1996), and Elder Law – Taking Control (1995), all published by the National Business Institute. In addition, he is contributing author for Generations – Planning Your Legacy (1998), Giving: Philanthropy for Everyone (2002), and Love, Money, Control: Reinventing Estate Planning (2004), all published by the Esperti Peterson Institute. Jim serves as a Forum Moderator for Omaha Christian Business Men’s Committee and on the Board of Omaha Youth for Christ. Jim and his wife, Denise, have eight children and live in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

Jerrod Gregg, Estate Planning Attorney at Estate Planning Law Group of Blazek & Gregg

Jerrod is a native Nebraskan who was born and raised in western Nebraska, where his family still resides. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from the Agricultural College at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1997. During this time he was a Regents Scholar and received the Certificate of Superior Scholarship and Academic Honors.

In 2003, Jerrod received his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law, with an emphasis on business transactions. Jerrod has been a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association since 2003. He specializes exclusively in the area of estate and business planning, and Jerrod lectures regularly on these subjects. Jerrod is a member of Wealth Counsel Estate Planning Attorneys, a national organization of estate planning specialists. Given his upbringing in a rural community in the panhandle of Nebraska, Jerrod has a special interest in assisting farm and ranch families with their planning goals.

Jerrod lives near Lincoln, Nebraska, and enjoys playing golf, waterfowl hunting and spending time with his three children.

Paul Blazek, Estate Planning Attorney at Estate Planning Law Group of Blazek & Gregg

Paul was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Hastings College in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and graduated Cum Laude from Creighton University School of Law in 2018 with a Juris Doctor degree.

During his time at Creighton, Paul received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in three courses: Estate Planning, Cross-Examination, and International Criminal Law. He also wrote United States v. Hughes, For purposes of the Lacey Act Circuit Split, The Eighth Circuit Hunts Down the Proper Definition of Market Value, which was published by the Creighton Law Review.

Paul says his most enjoyable moments at Creighton involved passing on his writing and drafting experience by working on the Creighton Law Review Board as a Student Articles Editor and as an associate of the Creighton University School of Law Legal Writing Center.

Outside of work, Paul enjoys traveling with his wife, Jenny, and working on their acreage in Missouri Valley, Iowa

Tyler Masterson, Associate Attorney at Estate Planning Law Group of Blazek & Gregg

Tyler is an associate attorney at Blazek & Gregg, P.C., L.L.O. Tyler was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, and graduated from Pueblo South High School. During high school, he attended Pueblo Community College and obtained his associate’s degree in Business.

After graduating from High School and Pueblo Community College; he transferred to the University ofNew Mexico, where he bowled collegiately and completed his Bachelor’s Degree, with an emphasis in Marketing, in two years. Tyler attended Creighton University School of Law and was a law clerk for National Indemnity Company, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, during his first year of law school.

During his time in law school, Tyler was an associate of the Creighton University School of Law Legal Writing Center and a member of the Moot Court Board. He began clerking at a general practice law firm in 2016 as a second-year law student. He co-authored Piercing the Corporate Veil in Nebraska published in the Nebraska Lawyer Magazine (January/February ed. 2018) and was a presenter at the 2020 Nebraska State Bar Association Bankruptcy Section.

After graduating from Creighton, he practiced in the areas of small business formation and planning, corporate transactions, probate, and commercial and civil litigation. Tyler joined Blazek & Gregg, P.C., L.L.O. in 2022.

He is admitted to practice law in state and federal courts in both Nebraska and Colorado. His upbringing in the Rockies, along with his Midwest experiences, keep him mindful that each person has unique life circumstances and goals which require careful and tailored estate planning. Tyler also volunteers with the Tenant Assistance Project in Douglas County.

When he isn’t practicing law, Tyler enjoys bowling, golfing, swing dancing, cooking, hiking, and spending time with his dog, Oakley.
